READY, SET, GO! Get ready to create, explore, code and discover. Awaken your inner inventor by designing and testing how things move. From fidget spinners and hover crafts to air rockets and robots, this class will combine everyday up cycle materials with motors, batteries, wires and electronics to bring creations to life. In addition, students will be introduced to all areas of the makerspace including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, vinyl cutters, soldering equipment, circuitry and electronic gizmos and gadgets. Based on the design process at the Stanford d.School, this course will help build self-confidence, perseverance, creativity, collaboration and communication skills. Students will have take-home projects.

Learn how fun and easy it can be to design and build just about anything you can imagine using a laser cutter, CNC machine or 3D printers— including your own customized  fidget spinners! Students will learn how to design and create in 3D using Autodesk TinkerCad, and then will bring their creations to life using our advanced fabrication machines. They will be introduced to all areas of the makerspace including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, vinyl cutters, soldering equipment, circuitry and electronic gizmos and gadgets. This is an exciting introductory course into the world of iOS app building using Swift, the new programming language for Apple, and the design tool Sketch. Create a custom app that you can use on any iOS smartphone or tablet. Students who want to continue on, will have the opportunity to form teams and compete in contests including the Technovation Challenge and the Congressional App Challenge. An exciting part of this class will be visits by key guest speakers from tech companies and opportunities to attend coding events locally. Last session, our team won the top prize at a Google Hackathon in San Francisco. Go Girls!!

Let’s get Coding! Our team of expert teachers will customize an individualized program for each student based on their interests and experience level. Students will have the freedom and flexibility to choose from a variety of powerful  game design or programming languages and have full access to our professional-grade software. Each week, we will motivate them with new challenges as they practice and gain a working knowledge of their chosen language. Languages include Java, Scratch, Fusion, GameSalad, Unity and Python. All levels welcome.

Build your own Raspberry Pi computer and learn programming, electronics and engineering while exploring a fun Minecraft world. Students will come away with an understanding of what engineering, hardware, and coding have to offer. For everyone from tinkerers to aspiring coders, this class is designed to inspire the inventors of tomorrow, as well as build creative confidence, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
